HAYDEN, CO – March 27, 2026 – Becknell Industrial, a national leader in purpose-built industrial real estate development, design & construction and long-term asset management, today announced it has been awarded a new development contract by an undisclosed global technology company and leading online retailer. The project includes the development of a 40,000 square foot warehouse facility in Hayden, Colorado, located near Steamboat Springs and approximately three hours west of Denver.
The new facility— referred to as Project Elkhead—has been approved by the Hayden Planning Commission and is slated to become an anchor of the Northwest Colorado Business Park near Yampa Valley Regional Airport1.
Becknell Industrial will serve as Development Manager, overseeing project delivery and stakeholder coordination. Following a competitive bid process, Graycor was selected as General Contractor for the new facility.
The 40,000-square-foot warehouse is positioned to improve logistics and delivery performance in remote and mountainous regions of Northwest Colorado. The Hayden location will enhance service to communities including Craig, Baggs, Southwest Wyoming, and Steamboat Springs, areas.
“This is a strategic client for Becknell, and we are deeply grateful for the trust and confidence they have placed in our team and our approach,” said Kevan O’Connor, Senior Vice President of Becknell Industrial. “Carving a state-of-the-art industrial building into the side of a mountain is no small undertaking, and we are fully committed to exceeding their expectations on what is truly a one-of-a-kind, complex project. The thoughtful collaboration we have experienced throughout this process — with our client, the town of Hayden officials, and our construction partner Graycor — has been a true partnership, and we look forward to continuing those relationships for years to come. We are equally proud of the economic benefits this facility will bring to the Hayden community and the broader Northwest Colorado region.”
Local officials have described the project as a major economic catalyst for the rural region. Hayden Town Manager Mathew Mendisco noted that the microcenter will provide a significant economic boost, improving regional logistics, supporting local employment, and strengthening the town’s transition away from its historical reliance on coal2.
The project also has the potential to attract additional companies to the Northwest Colorado Business Park, further strengthening Hayden’s long-term economic development prospects.
Becknell Industrial has a track record of delivering complex, high-performance industrial facilities for this client. The company previously completed work for this client on a 10-month build of the 278,500-square-foot facility called Nexus at DIA in Commerce City,Colorado. See a virtual tour of that property here. Becknell Industrial also completed a 540,000-square-foot build at Alliance Interstate Park in Greenfield, Indiana.
This experience positions Becknell to efficiently manage the Hayden project, navigating both the developmental requirements of rural regions and operational standards.
