Becknell Industrial was selected to develop a 911,571 SF distribution facility in Greer, SC on behalf of BMW. BMW opened its Greer-based Plant Spartanburg in 1994 to manufacture its “X” series vehicles – today the plant totals 7 million SF and produces 1,500 vehicles daily. BMW approached Becknell to develop a modern distribution facility on a 90-acre site Becknell assembled and acquired in 2019. In order to meet BMW’s full requirement, Becknell acquired an additional 30 acres of land to address BMW’s needs for trailer parking and expansion capability. Additionally, Becknell coordinated the construction of a fly-over bridge spanning I-85 to connect Plant Spartanburg with the new building.

In partnership with BMW, the Becknell team navigated successfully through the COVID-19 pandemic and global supply chain disruption to deliver the facility on time, and on budget. This allowed BMW to consolidate distribution functions warehoused in Plant Spartanburg, freeing up additional manufacturing capacity. This 911,571 SF Class A modern distribution facility features 36ʼ clear height, 148 loading doors, an ESFR sprinkler system and LED lighting with motion sensors.
