Update on five Northeast Florida warehouse projets

Becknell buys land for second building.

Chicago-based Becknell Industrial bought land in Westlake Industrial Park for a second warehouse project.

Pritchard Road Florida Becknell Investors II LLC paid $748,200 on March 22 for 12.49 acres at Pritchard and Chaffee roads, west of Interstate 295.

Construction of that estimated $10 million project is expected to start this year.

The St. Johns River Water Management District is reviewing plans for the building, specified as a 161,402-square-foot warehouse-distribution facility at 3750 Cisco Drive W.

England-Thims & Miller Inc. is the civil engineer and Environmental Services Inc. is the environmental consultant.

Colliers International Executive Vice President Guy Preston, who is working with Becknell, said construction will start on the second building after a tenant is signed for the first.

In November, the city issued a permit for Becknell to build its first structure in Westlake – a $7 million, 185,686-square-foot speculative building on 18.7 acres at 12075 Pritchard Road.
