Becknell Industrial broke ground on a 68,000 square-foot build-to-suit facility for CSL Plasma in Whitestown, Indiana. CSL Plasma Inc. is one of the world’s largest collectors of human plasma. Currently operating approximately 10 miles away, out of its Park 100 location, the Company plans to move to their new location on Perry Blvd by the end of the year. Becknell plans to have shell completion by the end of October. The building will include a 30,000 square-foot “sub-zero” freezer cooler that will maintain a temperature of -32 degrees Fahrenheit at all times. The freezer clear height will be 32’0” above finish floor. The building will also include 20,000 square feet of refrigerated docks that will be cooled to 34 degrees Fahrenheit. All of the facility’s refrigeration will be made with glycol mechanical systems to prevent anti-freezing and will have an electrical systems backed up by Cummins 1.5 Kw diesel generators. Becknell’s extensive experience includes designing/constructing nearly a dozen freezer-cooler buildings.
